Chinese power company to fund Pakistan hydro plant

Chinese-state owned Three Gorges Corporation (CTGC) will develop Pakistan’s Kohala Hydropower Project. The plant is expected to have a capacity of 1.1 million KW, according to Xinhua news agency.

The hydropower plant is part of the $46 billion China—Pakistan Economic Corridor connecting the two countries through Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). The Corridor is a 3,000 km network of roads and energy structures designed to assist economic growth in Pakistan.

In September, CTGC registered a subsidiary for the project in Pakistan. A Pakistani government supporting letter for the project was issued last week, CTGC said.
