GE to separate renewable energy business

General Electric Co announced that it will create a separate unit for it renewable energy pursuits. The new unit will be called renewable energy and will include wind and hydropower projects that it recently acquired from Alstom.

GE will also transfer its turbine making business from the oil and gas unit to the power unit.
