Thai PTT in Deal with Ratchaburi to Expand into SE Asia Energy

BANGKOK – PTT Pcl, Thailand’s largest energy firm, said on Wednesday it had signed a contract with Ratchaburi Electricity Generating Pcl to study the possibility of investing in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving terminal in Myanmar.

The move is part of PTT’s drive to strengthen energy security in Thailand and expand into Southeast Asia, it said in a statement. Its two units, PTT Energy Resources Ltd and Global Power Synergy Pcl, also signed a separate contract with Ratchaburi to study the possibility of investing in coal-fired power plants in Myanmar, Indonesia and Vietnam, the statement said.
