Univation signs agreement with LG Chem for Unipol PE Technology

LG Chem

An agreement has been signed between Texas-headquartered Univation Technologies,  and South Korean LG Chem to use Unipol PE Technology for a 2×300 kTA polyethylene plants at LG Chem’s petrochemical site in Yeosu, South Korea.

Dr Steven Stanley, President of Univation Technologies says that LG Chem, being chosen as the polyethylene technology licensor for these two new polyethylene plants, will be able to serve a broad array of key LLDPE and HDPE applications to meet the sophisticated Korean market requirements, given the inherent flexibility of these Unipol PE Plants, while also producing export-ready grades to capture overseas market opportunities.

One of the plants will focus on differentiated metallocene LLDPE products while the other on full-range of HDPE applications.

LG Chem can access a full-density range of Univation’s Unipol PE Product capability including Univation’s XCAT Metallocene LLDPE Technology for metallocene-based film structures such as high-performance blown stretch film applications as well as advantaged packaging film applications. LG Chem can also utilise Univation’s Acclaim Unimodal HDPE Technology for advanced unimodal products and Prodigy Bimodal HDPE Technology for unique bimodal HDPE products.
